Promotion
In today's society,there are several outlets that one can use to promote themselves. Many public figures do promotion through social media, however, Banksy does not; instead he uses film documentaries and books to aid him in telling the world of his artwork and who he is.
Though Banksy does not promote himself through social media, he does have a Facebook Fanpage and Instagram. The Facebook page is a medium in where his fans can post his artwork, their experiences and stories on the page. Most public figure's social media is a very controlled environment,and Bansky does not want that to be the case for him, he does not want to conform to society's standards of promotion and social media.
Guerrilla Marketing is the prime way in which Banksy promotes and markets himself to the general public. An example of this would be every day for a month, Banksy announced on his website the location of a piece of artwork he created in New York, which encouraged people to try to find it. This action created media buzz not only among his following but others as well.
Banksy dressed up as a pioneer and installed his pieces of his artwork in museums in the New York area, which was another example of how he has used Guerrilla Marketing to benefit him.
When the world premieres of Banksy's debut movie, Exit Through the Gift Shop, Banksy sprayed his aerosol aura over Park City, another way in which he vitalize to use of Guerrilla Marketing.
